I like many styles and categories, but my favorite is rock and metal.

When doing something difficult - troubleshooting /complex impositions -, nothing.

    Jazz-prog psychedelic for creative stuff.

70's/early 80's metal for repetitive jobs ( cut outs - easy lightroom massive color corrections )

But even with minor difficulty jobs, when time presses i turn of everything as music really destructs me.

To maintain deep focus, instrumental music is a must for me. That can be anything from movie scores to classical music.

Tropicalismo (Os Mutantes, Caetano Veloso) and Frank Zappa. The best for productivity!

Same for me. I was taught in college that instrumental music occupied enough of your mind that it helped keep your mind from drifting, while not intruding on the verbal parts of your thinking (including reading, writing, coding).

    For me, lately:

I'll sometimes put on classical music like Chopin or Mozzart it all depends on what my mood is like on the rare occasion I will listen to AC/DC or Whitesnake.

For every new project I try different albums until the perfect match occurs. I usually remember the projects I've worked on just by the music I was then listening to. It's not only very helpful but almost mandatory to me. Last album was Motives for Writing by Wim Mertens.
